For those of us who insist on a tangible form to show our affiliation to our favourite tracks and artists, then you’ll already know Vinyl records have been making a steady comeback for a few years. It is therefore unsurprising, yet incredibly exciting, to see a new vinyl pressing plant is opening in southern Sweden.
Spearheaded by music producer Pedro Ferreira, on May 26th Spinroad Vinyl Factory, will open its doors and start taking orders of beautiful black or dazzling coloured discs.
Located south of Gothenburg, in Lindome, the building’s facade has a classic brown brick design displaying its past history as an old cotton factory – Spinneriet (The Cotton Mill),
Spinroad Vinyl Factory aims to be the biggest in Scandinavia and will offer small runs of 100 – up to tens of thousands of records, in all the standard formats (12″, 10″ and 7″).
Delivery time of 5 weeks will come as welcome news too as global presses have struggled to keep up with the high demand. Spinroad Vinyl Factory adds that they are the only plant in Scandinavian to have two of the best record pressing machines in the world – The legendary Pheenix Alpha AD12.
With the development of an on-site coffee shop, a record store and a recording studio, Spinroad Vinyl Factory certainly sounds like it will cater to all vinyl lovers desires.
Vinyl records may be hip today but it’s certainly not a fad or for audiophiles only. When anyone in the world can have the same digital playlist as you a limited edition vinyl not only distinguishes you as a person but they also feel good, smell good and look damn fine on the shelf.
Show me a playlist that can do that?
