Swedish singer Yari Blue has released her new single Cold – and in today’s sunshine (at the time of writing) its the cool breeze we required. Produced by Slackin’ Beats, Elgus and Cikada, Cold blends the poetry of hip-hop, the smoothness of neo-soul with a combination of intoxicating beats.
Yari Blue is a new name to me, so my knowledge about the singer is limited while I research; however, I understand the immediate connection she had with Elvis (Slackin’ Beats) led to this release and the lyrical content.
‘We talked about girls and compared some relationships to hangovers and drinking. I made a new friend, and we made this song, what a bonus!‘
Yari Blue is a name we’ll all undoubtedly want to know more about.
Lyrics
Serve it to me ice cold. Make it strong, let me feel it.
By the time I leave I need to know what our deal is.
No time or energy to waste, baby be clear with me
No need no need to be sweet. Some things they just can’t be
Let me know how you do, how you feeling?
Upside down half the time, that’s fine- me too.
But I don’t do this make believe, I’ll take my heart and leave, I’m out
Serve it to me I’m fine. Shots of you but I’m still upright.
Hung over, I’ll sober. Give it a week it’s not like we’re soulmates, right?
(Chorus)
Ice cold, why don’t you serve it to me ice cold
Can we do this in a blue light, cool night, it’s snowing did you notice?
We both know this ain’t love cause where is our focus?
Eyes closed. It’s time we both let go, no room for egos.
I know you know it too and I don’t either- regret us
A few drunk texts, I expect them at like five-ish
AM/ PM, it’s a small town yea I’ll see you again.
But we know we burnt out and ashes don’t catch flames so I am on my way
Don’t know what else to say, I gotta go bae.
(Chorus)
Ice cold. Why don’t you serve it to me ice cold
