Too Much to Mention – the first single from Jonas‘s forthcoming album proves the master of soul and neo-soul class.
With mellow goodness, gentle percussion, and the softest electric guitar chords, Too Much to Mention delivers soothing soul music with poetic and thoughtful lyrics.
After 25 years in the music business, Jonas has earned well-deserved respect and recognition for his soul music in Scandinavia and worldwide, earning him the title of Godfather of Scandinavian Soul.
Jonas’s main motivation was always to create music in collaboration with others, and the limitations of the lockdown became both a blessing and a curse. As a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer, this new situation helped him realise how much he could do alone.
Describing Too Much too Mention, Jonas explained:
“I wrote this song in the beginning of the pandemic. Before everything was locked down, I had already bought a plane ticket, and planned a trip to Los Angeles, where I was going to continue working on our PEOPLE ON THE HILL project, with a lot of friends and amazing artists, musicians and producers there. I was so gutted and upset that I couldn’t go. Hence the opening line “I miss that California sunshine…”. I just felt like I needed a break from all the bad news, division, uncertainty and negativity. I felt restricted, demotivated and talked down to. In these times, I believe most people can relate to those feelings. And fear is the best way to control people. Really we have more in common than we have differences.”
While the story of love remains a stable subject for songwriters, Jonas has always searched for inspiration from the world at the time – be it joyous or painful. In consequence, the godfather’s words are always worth listening to.
