Whoever said ‘image is everything’ was almost right. Based on the album cover, Kamilia Amelie sure has style – luckily, so does her debut album, ‘Come What May.’
The Danish singer’s album, released on Sept 13 2012, consists of 9 songs, all sung in English. Kamilia sings in a pop style with an edge of soul. The song ‘Go Ahead‘ stands out to me, with a smooth tempo that suited her voice. I also liked ‘Ego‘ for its flow and ‘Don’t Need You‘ for it’s wonderful reggae feel.
‘Jante Law Suppressed‘ has an outstanding video, but it doesn’t quite feel like a big hit. On the other hand, her first release, ‘Little Darling,’ sounds catchy and perfect for radio – it deserves airtime.
All in all, this album feels like a tease after having heard Kamlilia’s excellent version of ‘Valerie‘ by Amy Winehouse. Maybe it doesn’t really show her off as much as I’d like, but it’s still a damn good start.
