Rebekka B. Maeland, one of the Norwegian soul scene founders, returns with a new R&B release – On Repeat.
After taking time out to start a family, the award-winning songstress new single delivers her feather-soft vocals on a bed of gentle jazzy horns and a finger-clicking beat. The romantic lyrics are covered in red rose petals.
Born in a small, rural town in Norway, Rebekka B. Maeland had a determination to bring a warm, soulful style and expression at a time when soul music was hardly played on the country’s radio stations.
Working closely with producers such as Harry West, Jonesy and Roar Farstad, her elegant vocals and feel-good vibes flowed through two EP’s and collaborations with rap artists such as Son of Light (My Way, House Of The Heroes), Big Pooh (What you Said) and Jo’leon Davenue on the timeless party starter – Don’t Worry.
Her now hard-to-find single – Summer Feeling, won the best Scandinavian Soul Single Award in 2013. Guaranteed to move any dancefloor, it remains a classic in the Scandinavian soul scene.
Now back with a late-night smooth groove, it’s a loving return to one of the first queens of Norwegian soul.
