A single describing a longing for love George McCrae’s 1974 disco classic Rock Your Baby awakens stereo systems again with an irresistibly groovy version by Saie Saie.
Resisting the temptation to make a standard carbon copy, Swedish artist Saie Saie released a live studio arrangement with enough electrifying energy to awaken Frankenstein’s monster!
Mixed in Dolby Atmos, this version is experienced best through quality headphones or a hi-fi surround system. Saie Saie’s raspy, blues vocals pulsate with dynamics, creating a listening soundstage that encircles you. Anyone who has unearthed YouTube’s 70’s live music archive, such as Jimi Hendrix – Band Of Gypsys (1970), Curtis Mayfield – Curtis Live! or Etta James’s spellbinding performance of I’d Rather Go Blind and felt they had missed music’s golden era will breathe a sigh of relief with Saie Saie’s latest release.
Saie Saie honours the old-school way of making music and describes her process.
“Me and my musicians rehearse for hours on end and then we go into the studio and record everything on tape. What we sound like on the recordings is how we sound live. I like it more that way because you have to be an actual musician and you have to be good at your craft. I used to do electronic music and it made me depressed because I couldn’t feel it”
“I don’t care about what is going to sell. I used to, when I was working with major labels because my personal opinion was never valid to them. After a while you start questioning yourself but now I only make music that makes me feel.”
Saie Saie embraces those retro influences into a scintillating new rendition. The audio captures the immersive 360-degree detail of a live experience, with warming soulful harmonies and sweet blowing horns. And if any corroboration is needed, the official video (see top video) delivers the raw recording for your visual pleasure!
