Second R&B/pop single confirms Mazen Awad’s arrival / Slide

Swedish based artist Mazen Awad finds the right measure of ingredients to introduce a charming R&B Pop mix on the single / Slide.
The 20-year old artist delivers a sensually attractive single, sparkling in musical tone and adorned with caressingly soft vocals, underscored with a gentle reverb.
‘Slide‘ is the follow-up single to ‘Aftercare” (released in May). Comparable to modern Danish super groups Phlake and Scarlet Pleasure the single was well-received, and Mazen has been hailed as Swedens’ new pop hope. The quality is undeniable and there’s enough soulful/R&B vibe to cross into our playlists!
From producing to songwriting to singing and mixing Mazen does it all. This creative control is demanding but has its reward.
“Sometimes inspiration strikes and ideas just flow. Sometimes it ends up being a great song and sometimes not, but when that “state” does happen, I almost always look back at the process and wonder “How did I do that?”. It’s like I enter a flow state of focus where I am so deeply in the zone, that I forget about time, and every idea for a melody or lyric just flows naturally without too much concern. That’s basically what happened with Slide “– Mazen
However, Mazen Awad isn’t looking to stick to a formula and sets no boundaries on where he sees his direction going.
“For me to create a song with a kinda laid back feel and vibe is something I rarely do and when I do, I kinda just put it aside and keep it for myself. For the, most part I want to release a body of work that is cohesive and since I don’t normally make this vibe for the public I wasn’t originally planning on doing it. But I made an exception with these tracks. I really enjoy the simplicity of the tracks and laid back vibe throughout them, and they were so naturally created, the ideas just came to me, that it felt right for this moment.
In regards to what’s coming after Slide, you just have to wait, but I can tell you that it’s probably gonna be something you are not expecting. That’s part of the beauty of creating something from your subconscious mind, there are many truths, and I’d like to share them all with you” – Mazen
