Smiling LIS takes the listener on an exciting voyage into RITUALS complete with drunken loops, electronic synths, and playful vocal harmonies.
Behind the moniker, smiling LIS is Liselotte Östblom, a jazz-soul singer we always keep an ear on. In 2014 we featured her in our Scandinavian Soul Sessions with the band Ever Say Ever.
The ambidextrous producer-artist from Stockholm and London is passionate about creating soulful immersions, rich with hazy textures and cryptic sounds inspired by jazz, hip-hop, and alternative R&B. It is an admirable, authentic and rebellious attitude that crosses genre lines into new dimensions.
The debut single from her solo project, ‘RITUALS,’ is a multi-layered hymn to change and new beginnings. Combining multi-layered harmonies, futuristic sounds, and poetic lo-fi predictions, it’s expressive, bold and thought-provoking.
