Uptown Soul to launch on Uppsalas Student radio

On Wednesday 19th November 2019, Studentradion 98.9 adds a soulful hour to its weekly schedule courtesy of Uptown Soul. Uptown Soul is the creation of DJ Ameezyn (Amandus Kraftling) with guest DJ Mr C (Andy Collins). Every Wednesday 17 -18 CET the duo bring a selection of Scandinavian Soul, R&B, and soulful cuts in their midweek session.

DJ Ameezyn “Soul music made in Scandinavia is a real thing already. But not enough people know about it. The music is very accessible; at the same time, it’s not afraid to broaden perspectives. And we want to contribute to its expansion.”

Studentradion 98.9 broadcasts live on the web, from the heart of Uppsala, every weekday between 2 PM and 10 PM. According to the latest marketing statistics, 41% of Uppsala Students tune in to a range of programs carefully selected to cover topics in music, culture, community, humour, and more.

The show, which will be broadcast live in Swedish and English, and gives a much-needed expanded playlist for listeners, local and nationally.

Speaking ahead of the premiere Andy Collins also said ‘It’s felt like a crime that so much superb soulful music produced over the past several years hasn’t made the ‘commercial playlist’ because … well, people may go crazy! That’s the only reason I came up with!  Together we’ll bring people good vibes, and I know we’ll laugh a lot too.’

Uptown Soul will explore the Scandinavian soul vaults of the past and the freshest releases of today.
