Swedish newcomer ayli. delivers her debut single / Vibe Like and melts listeners into a reclined, chilled out zone.
The singers single fuses many elements seamlessly, incorporating rap, English and Spanish text into a smooth jazzy blend of neo-soul. The playfulness is entirely natural as ‘Vibe like‘ is almost entirely based on freestyled pre-recording sessions. If the debut aims to show ayli.s ability, then this single reveals a multi-talented artist.
ayli. (who has a full stop after her name) was enthused by FKJ to create a dreamy, jazzy sound and also found inspiration with Uk songstress Jorja Smith and gender-fluid artists.
Born in the suburbs of Stockholm her broad range of influences can be traced to her background as her father’s CD collection contained everything from Latin American folklore to Led Zeppelin and Bob Marley. A broad canvas of music should be every child’s foundation in life.
Describing the songs concept ayli. says:
‘Vibe like’ was inspired by conversations with a toddler and aimed to shift focus back to the small things that bring joy in everyday life, often overlooked as we are busy concentrating on bigger goals, or things we are told we want through social media.
Written by ayli. and produced by fellow artist J filter, they are currently working together on her first EP leaves expected to drop this Autumn (haha, no pun intended!).
Still raw, we’ve heard enough to know we’ll be wise to keep track on ayli.
