Norway is fast becoming the home of Nordic Neo-soul as quintet White Ascot demonstrate with their new single – Weakness.
A blend of vocal vulnerability and soulful musicality define Weakness and follows the band impressive debut single GGG, which dropped earlier this year.
Those familiar with the outstanding band Fieh are sure to embrace and enjoy the similarity in their rich, neo-soul sound. Lead vocalist Frida Lydia’s subtle Norwegian dialect is equally endearing. In contrast, the dimension White Ascot opens is mellower, and smoother rather than funky. The soundscapes undulate with sparkling synths and softly layered vocals. Basically, if White Ascot doesn’t resonate with your musical chords, then you’re on the wrong website!
Weakness tells of a love affair at its lowest point with a sound that encapsulates the whole album. Frida Lydia summarises: “Weakness is about the desperate memories of someone who was never really there.“.
Lyrically involving and immersive means WHITE ASCOT are on one trajectory, and that’s up.
