Listeners demanding music ‘outside the box’, should discover duo Diza Guava and Josef Park. Their alternative soundscapes seek new reflections and their Swedish-sung lyrics/rap are as captivating as their visuals.
The combined forces have delivered contemporary singles such as Förgätmigej and PRINT SCREEN, and continue to blend genres with their single Du & jag. Taken from their debut EP, Guava Juice Du & Jag is reworked and remixed with darker tones by IKHANA.
The video (see above), directed by Moncef Henaien, shows Sweden’s traditional midsummer gathering, given a sinister undertone with Diza Guava and Josef Park, the leaders of their flower-crowned cult.
Written by Diza Guava and Josef Park, Diza gave us a deeper explanation of the remix and video creation.
“This wasn’t meant to become such a big thing from the beginning”, Diza explained. “Both Josef and I had been in love with Ikhana’s work and artistry for years, so she was on the top of our list when we looked for remixers. When we received her version of Du & jag, we felt like it resonated with the song’s original message but also brought a new energy that inspired us to express ourselves further and make visual art out of it.”

Diza Guava and Josef Park envisioned a fast-paced futuristic scenery and, with filmmaker Moncef Henaien developed the concept of incorporating Nordic symbolism and ritualistic elements into the video, partly inspired by the folk horror movie Midsommar (2019).
“Josef and I took the roles of soon-to-be cult leaders, going through identity and love crises in front of the following villagers. This trippy music video was produced in Värmland without Ikhana’s knowledge – luckily she seemed to love it!”
All we can say is, how could she not?
Once again, this duo presents an alternative sound in Swedish music, formed with a unique and daring authenticity.
Outside the box? These two have never been in it and we’ll follow them anywhere!
