Fieh welcome the new year with a sublime new single Allthetimeevenwhen. Following their recent singles Telephone Girl and Grendehus Funkadelic, Allthetimeevenwhen finds the Norwegian band in a smoother than cream flow with a luscious chorus melody.
Just listing the instruments alerts you to the music sphere we are in; mellotron, handbells, synthesisers, vibraphone, glockenspiel, timpani, trumpet, flugelhorn, clarinet, trombone, tuba, flute and, as always, exquisite vocals melodies of Sofie Tollefsbøl. Fieh is greater than the sum of their parts and they craft Allthetimeevenwhen in surging dynamics and layer it in sumptuously detailed sonics. Fiehs’ nu-jazz /nu-soul arrangement sets them apart. Crediting and applauding their musicianship is therefore essential.
The strings are arranged by Lars Horntveth and played by Fames Project – Orchestral Music Recording. The horn section are arranged by @Lyder Øvreås Røed and played by Lyder Røed, Solveig Wang, Andreas Rotevatn, Peder Simonsen, Henriette Eilertsen and Lars Horntveth.

Fed on a diet of pop songs, many listeners have become unaccustomed to music delivering this level of depth. It’s a shame as there is a real difference between handmade and factory-made.
Allthetimeevenwhen is taken from Fiehs’ forthcoming album In the Sun in the Rain which is available to pre-order on Bandcamp. Written by Sofie Tollefsbøl and produced by Lars Horntveth, you can tell why this one is among Fieh’s favourites from the album. It’s already one of mine too.
