Nápoles serves a sensual summer anthem / Selfmade $lick
Swedish / Cuban / Russian artist heats the dancefloor.
Nápoles is already a rather well-covered artist here on Scandinavian Soul – mesmerising us with her laid-back, lo-fi vibes. Now she is back with a new single Selfmade $lick. This one is quite different from her previous work and has a strong Amapiano (a hybrid of deep house, jazz and lounge) influence, and this uptempo groove doesn’t disappoint either. From the intro, with beautiful brass instruments and voices speaking in Spanish in the background, we are captured and eager to dance throughout.
Selfmade $lick is like opening a door and stepping out of the world’s rather grey reality into a colourful, electric, unique fantasy. It has an inherent drive and mesmerising energy that completely hypnotises. This feeling is also added by Nápoless’ confident delivery of the track. Even though her voice is soft and airy as a warm summer breeze, she comes off as entirely secure in her artistry, showing chill isn’t the only path where she excels.
Nápoles describes her single as “a celebration of individuality and sensuality.” It is an anthem to independence, confidence and being in control of your own life. It’s a summer anthem – what better message is there to accompany you through summer than one of strength and self-worth?
