Back in 2012 we added a young lady called Nosizwe to our artist pages in eager anticipation of her musical future. Now, she has just released a teaser from her forthcoming album and it’s nice to feel we were right, even if there’s been a four year delay.
Nosizwe is a South African/Norwegian singer with a unique style, who lives in Oslo, Norway.
Her story begins in chamber choirs and bands where she started writing and making her own music, before she embarked on a solo career.
She featured on the radio hit single “Stay” with Sisi in 2012, which was regarded as the hit of that summer by national media. Alongside her studies as a political scientist, Nosizwe started taking her own music more seriously.
Nosizwe’s style is a playful mix of soul, jazz, blues, electronica and hip-hop, seamlessly blending sensual, mature sounds and lyrics with a whirlwind of energy and mischief. Her lyrical expression are her views of the world and her personal journey.
After only two singles released, Nosizwe has already played some of Norway´s biggest festivals, including Øyafestivalen and Træna.
In February 2015 Nosizwe went to LA/Las Vegas to work with Georgia in the studio which resulted in her debut album ‘In Fragments‘, expected soon.
The album is being produced by legendary producer and singer Georgia Anne Muldrow (Erykah Badu, Bilal, Kendrick Lamar, Madlib and Mos Def.) and features guest artists such as Guilty Simpson, Denmark Vessey, Rene Mcclean, Naima Mcclean, Kinny, Son Of Light and Georgia Anne Muldrow.
This album already sounds like it was well worth the wait!
