If you’ve ever wondered what would happen if the moon, stars and disco/funk combined?… Who hasn’t? Well, Swedish duo Pomona Dream’s debut EP, Rainbow Milk might be the result!
Pomona Dream is the newly formed musical romance between the singer and songwriter Sandra Bang and producer Ribbs, and their music is rich in playful expression and hip pop/funk complexity.
Incredibly, it all started by a chance mistake.
Technical difficulties, led by the SoundCloud bots, notified the duo that they had gotten credit for each other’s music. This led to a conversation and soon a real-life meet up. Shortly after, a musical collaboration was born. Who needs Tinder!
In late 2015 they released their debut single The Box (listen below) as a result of their colourful musical honeymoon, and now it’s time for their debut EP Rainbow Milk.
Pomona Dream describes their perfectly titled six-track EP as ‘funky on-going space disco, filtered through a nostalgic VHS-tape.’
Yep, that sums it up nicely!
The EP is a uniquely attractive collection of songs with Sandra Bangs blissful jazz/soul vocals married with Ribbs deftly-produced hypnotic beats.
Tracks like Booger Dance, got my groove on, then I turned off my gravity boots and headed to a different dimension with the sublime Electric Blue.
Pomona Dream has created a fresh perspective in the Swedish future soul music scene comparable to the Cryptofunk pioneer Dim Out, Little Dragon and Furns.
The EP release will be followed by a three-week stay over in Los Angeles including a live show at “Desert Nights With KCRW DJ Valida” at The Standard, Hollywood and a headlining DJ set at On the Rox at famed Los Angeles club The Roxy.
Pomona Dream has certainly landed and they want to take you to new places. Believe us, you’ll enjoy travelling with them on this journey.
Rainbow Milk was released May 25 by Naiv Recordings and is available on Spotify and to purchase on Bandcamp.
