The dark winter months may have descended upon the Nordics, but the beats are certainly keeping the speakers warm. And Swedish producer Rickard Wijk’s new release Lifeboat keeps those beats burning bright.
The groove, which has a delightful throwback touch of UK Garage, pumps with an irresistible foot-tapping tempo as Aida delivers a soul-hop vocal style perfectly befitting.
“I wrote this text as a love story between two people set on an island’ explains Rickard. “The title (Lifeboat) serves as a metaphor of how you sometimes during a relationship feel as though the person you’re in love with has saved you and that without them, you’re kinda lost.”
Lifeboat follows up Rickard Wijk’s debut single June featuring RAHIMIC, who we last heard on Adée’s single BitterSweet. Both tracks signal the start of his journey and collaborations as he aims to deliver an emotional connection through his music.
“I aspire to inspire others with my music that first and foremost sounds good, but also works as a hand on your shoulder – something that echoes the thoughts and maybe the challenges you’re going through in your own life and letting you know that you’re not alone.”
Rickard Wijk certainly has come to the rescue.
