The sense of not being good enough becomes the theme of a surprisingly sunny and bubbly debut from Lukas Ferdinand.
While the subject, known as Impostor syndrome, forms the theme of the song, Lukas Ferdinand expresses this with a catchy single – Can’t Be the One. Popish in appeal Lukas’s vocal draws similarity to artists such Christoffer Hiding and the production hints of Huey Lewis and the News.
Describing the single Lukas says,
‘The song is about admitting to yourself that you’re probably not the best that your partner can do – that there’s probably someone better out there for them.’
Can’t Be the One feels like a throwback to radios’ glorious heyday, where genres were irrelevant and good vibes the only criteria. After this global pandemic (let’s hope that’s very soon), Lukas Ferdinand might just bring back the good old days. Just like his promotional pic above!
