Bubbly dance groove introduces duo MaRy / Standbye

I know I won’t be the only one glad to see the back of this year. At the same time, 2020 has had its soulful highlights. New music and artists emerged with songs reflective of this unprecedented year to help document this time for history.

Fulfilling both of those descriptions is a new duo MaRy with their debut single Standbye. Inspired by a mixture of disco and electronic soul Standbye warms with a dance tempo, bubbly beat and ambient vocal melodies.

Behind MaRy (with a capital R) is a Swedish /English artists Emma and Ryan, based in Stockholm and London. The pair met through a friend and bonded via their love of Bombay Bicycle Club and Tom Misch.

‘We started writing together, and the rest is history’ explained MaRy.

‘Standbye is a tribute to 2020, about feeling stuck in a rut and the feeling of falling behind and being left on standby.’
