For their latest release, Norwegian super band D’Sound connects with Barbadian soul singer Shontelle on their new R&B single Necessary Love.
Currently preparing for next years D’Sound 25th anniversary, the duo is teaming up with a host of global voices and releasing groove nuggets on the way. Check out the previously released single featuring the unmistakable Macy Gray / SAVE SOME.
The funky drum licks by Kim Ofstad and superb bass lines by Jonny Sjo provide their signature foundation on Necessary Love, and Shontelle (Impossible, T-shirt) effortlessly delivers her incredible soul vocals.
The delicious upbeat groove disguises the lyrics of frustration in a lover.
Baby you put a zig zag right through my heart
Boy was I dumb from the start, why did I get even involved after all
Everytime you try to patch it up with your phone calls
Baby I know you’re a fraud, why did I get involved after all.
Through clever editing by directors Bjørnar Strømsholm in Norway and Matthew Fewwture Ashby in Barbados, Shontelle delivers her Caribbean based sunshine vibes alongside D’Sound’s glistening Norwegian fjords.
It’s so good, this track should be called ‘Essential love‘!
