The world seems to be on fire with hate, division and power struggles. People are being killed because of their colour of skin and hated because of their religion. It’s time like this that the heart and strength of music can still bind us as human beings, in particular, soul music.
It was therefore a delight to hear a positive message from a new artist and his track called ‘Hoppas’ (Hope).
Swedish soul singer Marcus Lindgren released his debut single this month and is currently working on more music.
“I’ve a lot more soul and hip-hop to give”, Marcus said to me after we met at a recent event.
The single ‘Hoppas’ was written as on request for a group of youths in Nacka, a suburb in Stockholm, that work in a group called Polarna. They started a project they call #starkutanknark (#strongwithoutdrugs)
The goal is to make kids believe in themselves and choose their own future and creativity instead of drugs.
‘So I wrote this song about dreaming and believing!’ said Marcus.
It’s very much needed.
Smooth soulful vocals and a gorgeously sharp video, which also features SoLi on vocals, complete a very positive debut!
