It’s been a while since we last heard from Danish artist Jaim, but she’s back, and in an unexpected way—singing in her native language.
Previously crowned by us as the ‘Princess of Nordic Noir‘ for her sultry debut singles Beautiful and Seven, Jaim’s new track ‘I alt’ retains her signature melancholic vibe but shifts into mellow, minimalist territory.
While her earlier work was in English, this Danish-language release feels just as intimate. Jaim’s captivating voice carries effortlessly between languages, with ‘I alt‘ revealing every sonic detail in her vocals’ tone, bathed in emotion.

The production, by Mads Christiansen (Quadrillion), is a classy example of restraint. Atmospheric synths, subtle percussion, and a deep bassline create an immersive soundscape that echoes with haunting femininity. Minimalist to the core, the track strips away the unnecessary, leaving space for Jaim’s voice to take centre stage. Audiophiles, consider this your new headphone test anthem.
But don’t mistake its darkness for despair. At its heart, ‘I alt’ is rooted in love. As Jaim explains, it’s an ode to love in all its forms—ongoing, lost, or simply the love that surrounds us.
The track is written by Katja Welner and co-produced by her brother Kasper, a duo who clearly understand the beauty of simplicity. Their approach brings honesty and vulnerability to the forefront, making ‘I alt‘ so emotionally compelling.
Jaim proves once again that quality takes time. Whether in Danish or English, her music surrounds your senses, leaving you, as it did us, captivated and craving more – no matter how long it takes.
