R&B singer/songwriter Lei Lowe sees the dim shade of our world with her new single – Red Skies.
With sirens wailing in the background, Red Skies opens with soft, melancholic piano keys before the Danish artist’s tender vocals soothe as she tackles some of today’s heavy subjects.
For what seems the longest time, the world has rolled from one disaster to another, often exposing new the dark depths to people’s inhumanity. BLM, global warming, the pandemic and more, it’s been traumatic even as a viewer, as Lei Lowe described – ‘When everything felt like it was burning up in flames in front of our eyes, while we were all helplessly watching it unfold through our screens.’
Written before Russia invaded Ukraine, her words seem sadly prophetic.
An incredibly underrated artist Lei Lowe delivers a thoughtful and touching R&B single. Red Skies will remain relevant for a long, long time to come.
