Finnish soul pioneer Tuomo continues to explore soul music’s expanding realms with a soothing new release – A Connection.
Tuomo’s (Tuomo Prättälä) title ‘Finnish soul pioneer’ is well earned. Besides his work within the duo Pratt and Moody, he has composed for and played in numerous internationally recognised bands including; Quintessence, Q-continuum, Huba, Tuomo & Markus, Ilmiliekki Quartet, and Verneri Pohjola Quartet. Staying inspired through the pandemic Tuomo has remained a prolific composer and released a series of work on Bandcamp. Quarantine Music 1 EP compiled diary-like songs that touched on fear and the difficulties of isolation and staying at home or going outside.
A Connection is born from his continued reflections of modern life. The genre-bending single fuses soul with modern R&B overlaid by Tuomo’s always engagingly smooth vocals. The soft piano opening teases a climatic, emotionally uplifting end.
At a time when many of us feel isolated with restricted human contact, A Connection strongly resonates.
“The song was originally inspired by discussions on the ideal romantic relationship, but I feel it applies somewhat to all human interactions. In an ideal relationship, you don’t look for validation from another person, and you don’t demand perfection – from yourself or others. If you have doubts, you can overcome them. All you really need is a connection, the feeling that someone really sees you.“
A Connection is the first single of a body of work to be released throughout 2021. A Connection is the soothing, indie soul tune that will warm everyone’s heart.
