Finnish band N Stuff to release their debut single ‘Breathe’ on 28 August

We know Finnish soul music is alive and well with wonderful releases from bands such as Humus, Nicole Willis & The Soul Investigators, Eda Wolf and The Napkins. Now there’s a new name to add to this superb list – N Stuff, and we love what we’ve heard!

N Stuff started as a collaboration between two songwriters, Tuomo Noppari and Jori Pesonen. In their music, they combine styles that range from soul to Latin jazz.   Tuomo and Jori originally met in a jam session in their hometown Pori, Finland. They had played in many cover bands until they finally decided to make their own musical dreams come true.

Their first single ‘Breathe’ combines Brazilian rhythms and sophisticated jazz-harmonies with an orchestral arrangement. The lead vocals are sung by Kadi Vija, who has been leading a successful career with her own quartet.

N Stuff is also releasing a ‘Breathe-remix’ made by the electronic music producer Vital Idiot (that is his surname…honest!).  Currently, the band is preparing material for their upcoming album. Some of the featured musicians also perform in bands such as Koria Kitten Riot, Klasu and Elina Arlin.

We also took a listen to their Soundcloud page and discovered ‘Say That it’s A Lie’ which is a wonderful, soulful track and somehow reminds me of an 80’s soul classic.

‘Breathe’ will be available on all major music services (Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, Tidal etc.) starting from August 28. A music video for the song is already posted on YouTube, see above.
