The latest release from Hannes adds a unique dimension to Sweden’s music scene. The Swedish artists new genre-defying single Sugar follows his recent dream-twisted track, ‘Snooze‘, which exemplified his creative labyrinth of playful lyrics that set him apart. His friend and producer Marcus White keeps the production hard to define with an odd mix of turntable scratches, indie drums and a banjo chorus inspired by The Beatnuts and Peter Bjorn & John.
Sugar is about the difficult and delightful thing about getting to know a new person. Through his soft melodies, it explores smoking too often, living in a crowded situation, and overeating candy.
A live recorded acoustic version, directed by Erik Pousette and filmed on a roof (see below) delivers a beautiful, campfire alternative that’s softer than babies skin.
Hanne’s tender voice, surreal and imaginative words develop a unique contemporary style of soulful pop music. But honestly, theres’ no putting Hannes in a box. He’s creating a sweet universe of his own.
