Swedish artists Izza Gara and Venus Anon have collaborated on their new single “Came to Dance“, released on the 12th of August. The song is right at the intersection between R&B and electronic dance music, with an ongoing intense and driving beat meeting light and airy vocals from two singers that perfectly complement each other.
A traditional dance floor anthem is usually packed full of energy and positivity. Not a single second of “Came to Dance” lacks power, but the positivity is ambiguous. It has more depth than that, with a somewhat dark side underneath. Regardless there’s an undeniable taste of escapism, a desperate longing onto the dance floor where all problems can melt away for a couple of hours.
Although the song has darkness, the production feels playful and innovative. Predominately recorded through an iPhone, the soundscape comes from a synth organ used to programme the beat, the chords and the bass. Izza Gara and Venus Anon provide tremendous personality to this spicy, upbeat track.
Came to Dance can encourage hundreds of people to dance their troubles away; and when this one is playing, we will be busting moves along with them!
